Scope:
Both InterMag 2011 (April 25-29, in Taipei,
http://intermag.onestep.com.tw/index.asp ) and 2011
VLSI-TSA ( 25 to 27 April 2011 in Hsinchu,
http://vlsitsa.itri.org.tw/2011/General/ ) will be held
in Taiwan. Since there are strong interaction and collaboration for the
researchers from both societies, organizers of both conferences would
like to take this opportunity to have this joint workshop to provide a
forum for the researchers from both societies.
Spin electronics is a rapidly emerging field
which is based on taking advantage of the unique properties of the spin
of the electron. Spin electronics has special importance as
nanoelectronics reaches its physical limitations. Novel sensing, memory
and logic devices, which rely on generating, manipulating and detecting
the electronˇ¦s spin, as well as using currents of spin-polarized
electrons have emerged in recent years. Many of these applications
require the integration of magnetic and semiconducting materials and a
fundamental understanding of both magnetic and semiconductor physics and
technologies. This is especially important for Spin electronics (spintronics/nanoelectronics)
of the future. Both in-depth and wide spectral discussion will be
expected in the workshop.
